Heolddu Ward

This mainly rural area with some sporadic residential building, farms and smallholdings has a very small section which lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Ward boundary is located some way up Wernddu Road on the outskirts of Ammanford and reaches over the higher areas on to Mountain Road and towards Glanamman. Up until the year 2003 a Sunday School branch of the Christian Temple (Welsh Congregational Church) at Ammanford was held at Nebo on Heolddu, which was erected in 1901 and during its time, as well as being a thriving Sunday School was also used as a daily school, a meeting place for the Llandeilo Rural Council and also served as a centre for the residents of Heolddu. When Nebo was finally sold in 2003, the new owner demolished the old building but kept the stone from the front of the building with the name and date it was erected, and placed it within the boundary wall, therefore keeping Nebo on Heolddu.
